Zach Young Servant of the King My heart is broken today. I have been scrolling through social media the past few weeks and all of the negativity and hatred just keeps piling up. There are so many hurt people in our nation, and it seems like there is no hope anymore. All I could think was “What happened? Where did we go wrong? How did we get here?” Then God hit me with some hard truth… Look at the American Church and you will have your answer. Boom. Right to the heart. I sat and thought about it trying to see what God was meaning, and unfortunately it didn’t take me very long. The reality is, our nation is dealing with issues now that the American Church has had for years.
Think about it. For so long, we have had division upon division upon division. I don’t really think anyone knows the real number of how many divisions we have had since Christianity began in the United States. All of these divisions point to some other issues which are: lack of forgiveness, lack of an understanding of love, lack of compassion, lack of truth, etc. Or if we just want to sum it up – lack of Jesus. As a church, we have allowed so much evil and simply tried to sweep it under the rug and pretend like everything is fine. For so many years, churches have dealt with corruption, injustice, segregation, and so on. Every single issue that we see in society today can be traced back to an origin in the American Church. Plain and simple – we failed. To all of my brothers and sisters in Christ, this one is on us. God gave the United States as a gift to the Church. It was our child. God’s word says to “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). Take it a step further and read in verse 8: “Whoever sows injustice will reap calamity, and the rod of his fury will fail.” We have raised America and soaked it in our troubles. Now, we are only seeing a product of our un-Christ like ways. Stay with me. This is not the time to give up and call it quits. This is the time when we stand up for all of God's creation, and start sharing real love once again. It's time to grow! I would like to say that I am so sorry to all of my fellow Americans. I have played a part in all of this just as much as any other Christian. I have compromised my faith and the commands of the loving God that I say that I serve, and my failures have led us to this point. If you want someone to blame, go ahead and point your fingers at me. I will take it. I am so sorry. I cannot promise you that any other Christian will follow in these footsteps and accept responsibility, but I will promise that my heart will never change. God has a hold on me, He has changed my life, and I refuse to go backwards. It is my life goal to help revive the Church from its halfhearted ways and be part of making America a place where real love is known. God hasn’t given up, I’m not giving up, and I hope you stick with us too. Again, I am so sorry. I want you to know that I love you, I see your pain, and I will fight for you. I hope you also come to know that Jesus loves you so much and wants so much better for you than what we have here and now. I hope you have a much better day.
